When it comes to weight loss, seeing the results you want never seems to happen quickly enough. You can envision what you want to look like but have a hard time getting to that place. A great place to start is to evaluate your lifestyle. Are you making good decisions frequently or catch yourself cheating on a daily basis? Are you making exercise a part of your routine? Learning from others who are successful can lead you in the right direction. Here are highly effective habits of people who experience successful weight loss:

  1. You workout at the same time at least 5 days per week.
  2. You have an organized refrigerator filled with lean protein and lots of vegetables.
  3. You visit the grocery store 2-3 times per week.
  4. You have friends and family around you that support your goals and practice healthy habits.
  5. You are judgment-free of others and their behaviors (even the bad ones!).
  6. You don’t consume alcohol more than once per week in moderation.
  7. You know what your blood pressure is.
  8. You avoid going out to eat like the plague. You are replacing happy hour with entertaining your friends in your home.
  9. You pack a lunch during the workweek.
  10. You have identified ahead of time what you are going to eat if you have to eat outside the home at a restaurant.
  11. You eat breakfast.
  12. Your dinner is not your biggest meal of the day.
  13. You always have water with you.
  14. You shop the perimeters at the grocery store and avoid the junk food-riddled aisles.
  15. You take your coffee black.
  16. You replace dessert with fruit.

You may not feel like you can make all of these changes today. The best action to take is to write down all of the practices that you are doing right and trying to practice adding at least one more that you are not doing to your regular routine. What is most important  to remember is that you are doing this for yourself to feel and look more healthy and to be a good representation of what good health and well-being looks like.
