Did you shovel snow today? Many people suffer from weather-related injuries during the winter and grueling outdoor shoveling can lead to some major suffering if you're not careful. You may experience lower back pain, breathlessness, and if you're really unlucky, a "heart episode".

To prevent these terrible injuries from trying to keep up with snowfall, follow these simple guidelines:

1. Bend your knees and use your leg muscles to plow through the snow.
2. Use an ergonomically friendly shovel to redistribute the energy in your body to prevent back injuries.
3. Don't be in a hurry. If you're in a hurry, too bad. Slow down or do it later!
4. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Shoveling snow is a big project and if you've got lots of snow to remove, ask a neighbor or family member if they would be willing to help. Offer them some hot chocolate upon completion to motivate them!
5. Remain physical fit and drink lots of water this winter. Having a strong aerobic base and core muscles help you move efficiently and complete these chores safely.

Don't forget to throw snowballs at any family members who aren't willing to help! Be safe out there.
